Good Eatin’: Something A Little Bit Scottish

List Item: Try 500 of the 1001 Foods You Must Try Before You Die

Food item: Aberdeen Angus Beef

Aside from Burger King’s claims that their Angus burgers contain Aberdeen Angus beef I have never the meat from this much-loved Scottish cow. I didn’t even set out to get this meat ticked off; just another happy coincidence that has occurred during a dinner with my mum. I have to say that I find it hard to say how this tasted apart from it being a very good quality, meaty burger that had a great deal of flavour to it. It was thick, juicy and delicious which is all you can really ask from a beef burger.

Food items: Gravlax and Blinis

Gravad lax (as I got it in Tesco) is something that I have been wanting to try for a long time and since the Balik smoked salmon on the food list is extremely expensive it seemed like a decent option. I served these on top of a blini with some cucumber cream cheese and a, rather delicious, dill and mustard sauce that came with the pack.

I have to say that these made me feel rather sophisticated. As aromatic and sweet the salmon was on top of these (what are essentially) miniature pancakes what really made it was the dill and mustard sauce. It may have cost a pretty penny to get together but you can not put a price on class.
