List Item: Try 500 of the 1001 Foods You Must Try Before You Die
I can not quite believe that it took me being well over 100 food items deep into this list before I would get to hoisin sauce. I said this many times on my cookery blog that this sweet sauce was one of my favourite ingredients and, all things being equal, I wasn’t meant to cook with it this week. Instead satay chicken was on the menu and we forgot to get any coconut milk. So chicken in hoison sauce with bok choy and baby courgettes it became. I’ll be honest the bok choy was slightly overpowered by the hoisin but there was a slight hint of bitterness from the leaves.
Strange to think that these are full-grown carrots, and possibly the best carrots I have had in a long time. Short, squat, sweet and easy to cook with skins that can be left on for when you cook with them. There are a number of ways to cook these but I chose to roast them in honey in order to really bring out the sweetness of the carrots. After 4 weeks of ordering them from ASDA and getting regular carrots as a substitute I really noticed the difference between these and the regular ones.
